Accepting an invitation to SHANI‘s meet and greet felt like being summoned to one of fashion's most prestigious houses. On Thursday, April 30 at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City, SHANI held her Coming Up Roses pop up. What followed was far more than a typical trip to Macy’s. Shani converted Macy’s into a romantic, black tie, floral fantasy, featuring her series of off the shoulder gowns layered in garden inspired elegance.
Flowers swarmed the ground floor, tantalizing the nose and fascinating the eyes. Upstairs on the fifth floor, massive artistic paper roses and peonies awaited. Live models paraded around in Shani’s blooming floral dresses cascading across sheer mesh. Personalized chic origami flower bouquets were being made on the spot. Walk further down the acrylic trail to pick as many sweet chocolate roses wrapped in metallic foil as your heart desired. Lulling sounds led you directly to an electric harpist performing live in a beautiful floral SHANI dress. The Off The Shoulder Novelty Embroidery Gown (to be exact) featured a floral jacquard fabric with dimension, depth, and texture. One of my favorite dresses on display for the night. Softly structured with a multicolored embroidered floral design.
You turn the hedge like corner, head toward the photo booth and bump right into Shani pleasantly nestled in the epicenter of embroidered, beaded gowns. Warmly beaming, Shani herself appeared in her romantic Off The Shoulder Embroidered Gown. A bridal soft shimmery pink gown with dimensional detailing. Shani was taking pictures, talking to guests, and signing her own mixed media artwork with personalized love notes on the back. Receiving couture illustration keepsakes with crystals, fabric, and a mood was the cherry on top. Honestly that’s when the evening really elevated. Despite the opulence and grandeur of it all Shani continued to focus on being deeply attentive and present.
When it was my turn for my autographed personalized message, Shani’s intuition rang correct. She complimented and analyzed my outfit and appearance and intuitively wrote, “Stay Creative.” We spoke briefly about an order from February that I was surprised she remembered, and I was perplexed that she personally answers customer emails when customers are placing orders. I asked her if she normally handles emails for her company and she said gingerly, “sometimes.” Then I asked her if she’s ever emotional when she is designing, and she gave me such a genuine response. She nodded enthusiastically and said, “Oh yeah for sure.” Throughout the night, Shani made sure to articulate messages centered around confidence, femininity, beauty, and self-expression. She also gave us her “designer origin story” of breaking into her mother’s closet and using her clothes for her creations.
From there, make your way to the end of the dress-paved road, while admiring the gowns hung on gold dress racks. The journey culminates at a super cute photo booth at the very end to capture your SHANI-induced glow, and commemorate your priceless pieces of art. It was an absolute treat to meet the creative energy behind this immersive branding event. The evening felt more like a celebration of fearless couture femininity.
From honoring your most memorable moments to surviving your most vulnerable ones, Shani’s attention to detail creates a cinematic and luxurious experience every time. Her intentional artistic vision becomes a kind of armor we all can wear with confidence.
